Garfield who is lyman

Fans began questioning Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield about Lyman, having him occasionally telling them to ,"not look in Jon's basement," leading fans to believe that Jon truly did have a mental breakdown, going insane. These are most likely not cannon, due to a reason which may be explained later. Lyman remained forgotten for many years, leading to questions about how Odie reacted to his disappearance with almost no feelings what so ever.

It seems that he truly sees John as his owner now, forgetting about his true owner. Odie never seemed distressed about his owners absence, most likely due to some form of hatred, or shear stupidity. In the Garfield TV show, aired on Cartoon Network, Lyman returned for a multi part episode where the truth was revealed about what happened to him.

Lyman became a Wildlife Researcher, moving to Australia, and he eventually began to search for a mythical creature. John and Garfield go to Australia, and eventually find the creature known as the "Zabadu," only to find that it was Lyman in a costume all along. Lyman found the creature, having it turn out to be a man dressed up as a monster to prevent people from hunting illegally, and Lyman eventually took up the job. Pretty creepy.

It sent chills down my spine the first time reading it and it really made me think. In the online game, Garfield's Scary Scavenger Hunt, players can unlock a secret room in the basement of a haunted house. There, on the wall, is Lyman chained up. If you interact with him, he will say he's starving and asks for food, but if you leave the room and come back, he will be gone. Even creepier is that in Garfield's Scary Scavenger Hunt 2, Lyman's head jumps out of an oven to scare you.

First, in the strip on Garfield's 10th birthday, June 19, , where he appears in the title panel seated between Jon's father and Liz ; he also appears in a flashback panel within the strip. The next was on April 2, , in a picture on the newspaper Jon was reading. According to Davis, Lyman's original purpose was to be someone who Jon could actually talk to and express other ideas — a role gradually taken over by Garfield , himself.

Once Lyman was no longer needed for that purpose, he was removed without explanation. Jim Davis has jokingly given explanations about Lyman's sudden disappearance and long absence from the strip; examples include "don't look in Jon's basement" and "he joined the Peace Corps and was never heard from again.

In the web game "Scary Scavenger Hunt," he is shown chained onto the wall in the basement of a haunted mansion. In "Scary Scavenger Hunt 2," his head is found inside the kitchen oven. Also, on the official Garfield website, he was shown working behind the counter in a former edition of the "Book Nook" section. Start writing! Follow Bored Panda on Google News!
